Facing the fear

Fear is a feeling that arises when there is something abnormal or harmful.

Fear is a distressing negative sensation induced by a perceived threat. It is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a specific stimulus, such as pain or the threat of danger. In short, fear is the ability to recognize danger leading to an urge to confront it or flee from it (also known as the fight-or-flight response) but in extreme cases of fear (terror) a freeze or paralysis response is possible. Some psychologists such as John B. Watson, Robert Plutchik, and Paul Ekman have suggested that fear belongs to a small set of basic or innate emotions. This set also includes such emotions as joy, sadness, and anger. Fear should be distinguished from the related emotional state of anxiety, which typically occurs without any certain or immediate external threat. (Wikipedia

With fear we will be more vigilant and cautious in dealing with problems or threats.

However, excessive fear of something that is not rational is also not good because it will prevent us from achieving goals and perhaps even more dangerous for ourselves and others. Excessive fear can make us panic and anxiety that often we become careless or hasty in solving the problem.

Excessive fear can be reduced or treated by adding knowledge about the causes of this fear and also improve the ability to overcome the causes of fear.
If we have enough knowledge and used to dealing with problems that make us fear, then fear will gradually disappear.

Fear also can be overcome when we get closer to Allah (God Almighty).
